For those visitors looking to enhance their own culinary skills, there is also a variety of high-quality cooking schools dotted throughout the region.

If you fancy yourself becoming a master of Italian cuisine, the Classi di Cucina Italiana in Rathdowney is a great way to learn to perfect your pizza bases and learn to create tasty pasta dishes.  Owners Pietro and Desley Agnoletto, who originally founded the popular Schonell Pizza Cafe at the University of Queensland, will share their secrets to making authentic Italian cuisine. Classi di Cucina Italiana will soon feature in the A World Apart Festival (21–22 May), which showcases the Scenic Rim region’s unique food.

The Wild Lime Cooking School in Worendo puts a different spin on cooking, teaching students to use Australian wild foods in fusion with Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. The classes are held in the country kitchen of the Wild Lime Country Cottage, where guests can also spend a night or two if they please.

Tamborine Cooking School is run by professional chef Terri Taylor, whose food philosophy is  “to cook delicious food using traditional techniques but in a lighter style, showcasing the best fresh local produce”. Classes teach students to cook and four-course meal, which they can also enjoy eating afterwards.
